Weekend Baking | Valentine's Blueberry Pies

I spotted these on Pinterest a couple of days ago and I had to try them out as they looked so cute and easy to make. I used my own recipe (which you can check out below) but the original was so simple as it just used shop bought pastry and blueberry jam. Read on to find out how to make them and see the pictures...

You Will Need

For The Pastry
100g of Unsalted Butter
200g of Plain Flour
A Pinch of Salt
A Splash of Water
Milk

For The Filling
50g of Blueberries
50g of Granulated Sugar
A Splash of Water

For The Icing
25g of Icing Sugar
A Splash of Water

To Make

1) To make the pastry, rub the butter, flour and salt together until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add a splash of water to bring it all together and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
2) For the filling, put the berries, sugar and water in a saucepan and simmer until the mixture thickens. Set aside in a small bowl.
3) Roll out the pastry and cut into an even number of heart shapes.
4) On half of the heart shapes, spoon one teaspoon of the filling in the middle and place another heart over the top. Use a fork to seal the edges and paint some milk over the top for colour.
5) Bake at 180° for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
6) Whilst the pies are cooling, mix icing sugar and water together to make a paste and decorate the pies any way you like!

Thanks for reading :)

Have you done any baking this week?
