DIY | Removing Gel Nails

I have gel nails most of the time which I apply with the SensatioNail kit. They're so easy to apply, look great and last for ages but the tricky bit is taking them off. If you pick at them or don't know what you're doing you can break and damage your nails with long-lasting effects. In the past I've been to salons to get the gels removed but you can do it yourself for a fraction of the price and without having to get up off the sofa! Read on to check out how to do it...

You Will Need
Flat Cotton Wool Pads
Acetone
Tin Foil Squares
A Nail File

To Do
1) File the top layer of your polish gently so the surface is no longer shiny
2) Soak the cotton wool pads in acetone and wrap around the nails
3) Wrap the tin foil squares over the cotton wool pads to secure in place
4) Wait 10-15 minutes before removing the foil and cotton wool
5) Peel the polish off your nails and file
6) Wait a couple of days before re-applying a gel polish

Thanks for reading :)*

Have you tried gel nails before?

  30. Dear Rosanna,
I have to admit I never tried out gel nails and therefore it wasn't necessary to remove them. But as your gel nails are looking very good I really should try out both the gel nails and removing them, too! Thanks for sharing.
