Winter Audible Listens

Winter is coming!

But do not despair! OK, OK so it's cold and it's rainy and it gets dark at like 2pm...but there are good things about winter too - namely cosy nights in.

I love listening to books via Audible and am very excited to spend some quiet nights in this winter with a hot water bottle and a good audio-book :)

If you fancy doing the same, then take a look at my winter Audible recommendations...

The Luminaries
by Eleanor Catton
read by Mark Meadows

If you love getting lost in a book then this is for you. It's set in 1886 New Zealand and follows a cast of characters as they become embroiled in a mystery involving gold, murder and magic. I can honestly say that a book has never made me think as hard as this one did...trying to solve the mystery...but in a good way! The story is bewitching.

The Secret History
by Donna Tart
read by Donna Tart (herself!)

This book is great for winter because its set in snowy New England - you'll be able to picture the scenes perfectly whilst tucked up and cosy! The story is a thrilling mystery about a group of friends and an unexpected death. Donna Tart reads it herself so every line is read just a she intended it to be and her North American drawl is just gorgeous to listen to.

The Moonstone
by Wilkie Collins
read by Peter Jeffrey

Considered my some to be the first true detective novel, The Moonstone has everything you'd desire from a great whodunnit. There's a beautiful girl, a handsome boy, a big country house and a missing diamond. It's perfect classic escapism.

The Winter Crown
by Elizabeth Chadwick
read by Katie Scarfe

This is the sequel to The Summer Queen which I wrote about for my Summer Audible Listens post.
The series tells the story of Eleanor of Aquitaine and the books are full of history and romance as well as some serious girl power on the part of Eleanor!

Thanks for reading!
